What They're Watching: Cool Animations

June 14, 2011

This post was authored by Michelle Castillo as a part of a YouTube Trends series exploring the videos being watched this week by the team at What's Trending.

In honor of reaching uberstardom status on YouTube, the guys and gals behind The Yogscast released an animated pirate-themed music video that has already received 615,965 since it was posted two days ago. The video was made in collaboration with Reckreations, and you can't help but admit that the song is really catchy.

Here's some other ridiculously cool animated YouTube videos that you should check out.

Keeping with the Lego theme, rewatch the Michel Gondry-directed video for the White Stripes' "Fell In Love With a Girl"

Hokay. What would a collection of the best animated YouTube videos be without the insanely popular "The End of the World"? It might not be the most innovative animation, but you know you or your friends have quoted this video at least once.

NMA World Edition, the Taiwanese company responsible for animating top stories, has changed the way we see the news today. Here's one of my favorite clips illustrating the secret footage found from the "Steve Jobs is a Ninja" incident.

And, for a more current story, check out "'Gay Girl in Damascus' actually 'Fat American in Edinburgh'"

For you journalists out there, I present "So you want to be a journalist?" It still makes me laugh and weep at the same time.
