  • boxxy - Searches are up for the young girl who became something of a celebrity among a very specific and active internet subculture a year ago has returned with a new video this week.

  • shawn michaels returns - Famous (and retired) professional wrestler Shawn Michaels made a surprise return appearance on last evening's WWE "Raw" creating a spike in searches today.

  • say anything alive with the glory of love - There's been a rise this morning in searches for the song "Alive with the Glory of Love" by the band Say Anything.

  • pete postlethwaite - British actor Pete Postlethwaite has passed away creating a rise in searches for videos featuring him. Here's a 2009 interview he did during a press tour for one of his final films.

  • birds arkansas - The state of Arkansas is recieving a boost in attention this morning following some mysterious bird and fish deaths over the weekend.

  • dog waiting for santa - There's a spike in searches for videos of dogs waiting for Santa Claus today. Though there are a few, this appears to be the very cute one people are looking for.

  • books for christmas - We featured this video in our 4 @ 4 yesterday morning, and it seems that today the clip of the disgruntled little boy opening a package of books last Christmas has made our top spiking searches.

  • vladimir radmanovic - Searches are on the rise for this Golden State Warriors forward who hit a buzzer-beater three-point shot last night to send the game into overtime against Sacramento. There was also a lot of interest in the Lakers-Bucks game in which Kobe Bryant got ejected.

  • jessica harlow - YouTuber Jessica Harlow is a rising search today. The popular make-up tutorial videomaker recently posted instructions on a Black Swan look.

  • roseville flash mob - Yesterday we detailed how YouTube was flooded with flash mob choir videos from malls across North America. Things got out hand last night, however, when one of those flash mobs resulted in a full evacuation of a mall in Roseville, CA when a reported 5,000 people showed up. Searches are up for footage of the mob (and the police helicopters it drew).

  • lunar eclipse 2010, moon eclipse - It made our top spiking search list yesterday, and this morning it's the #1 fastest rising search. Today's lunar eclipse that took place in the very early hours, leaving many searching for video of the event as they woke up. Here's a time-lapse shot in Brooklyn.

  • magnolia shorty - Searches are on the rise for videos featuring rapper Magnolia Shorty, who was murdered in New Orleans last night. Fans have also begun posting tributes to the artist.

  • shaq boston pops - Searches are up for video of NBC center Shaquille O'Neal conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra last night at their Holiday Concert in Symphony Hall.

  • lunar eclipse 2010 - There's a spike in searches for info about the lunar eclipse, which will be visibile late tonight in North America. Here's one explanation (2:10 mark).

  • lonely island - Andy Samberg's Lonely Island scored a major viral hit over the weekend with their Digital Short "I Just Had Sex," which has pulled in over 3 million views in less than two days.

  • marching band kick - One of this morning's top searches is for this video of a very cool marching band formation from the University of Hawaii. The clip first took off earlier this week and was featured in our 4 @ 4 AM Monday morning.

  • magnolia high school - Magnolia High School in Texas created this lip-dub last week set to Katy Perry's "Firework," and it's made them one of this morning's top rising searches. The performance features over 600 students and faculty.

  • anthony pettis - Mixed martial artist Anthony Pettis won the WEC lightweight belt last night with help from an incredible kick that's fast making the rounds.

  • project for awesome 2010 - Searches are already on the rise for the latest iteration of the "Project for Awesome," a site-wide, philanthropic project/takeover started in 2007 by YouTubers the Vlog Brothers. Action will start at roughly 12pmET.

  • michael haywood - There's a spike in interest today in Miami (Ohio) University football coach Michael Haywood, who is reported to be the next coach of the Pittsburgh Panthers. Here he is giving a post-game speech earlier this season.

  • llamas with hats 4 - The fourth installment of the bizarre and surreal "Llamas with Hats" animated series hit YouTube last night and there's been a spike in searches for it. Part 1 drew over 13 million views.

  • school board shooting; clay duke - By far, the top spiking searches this morning are for video of yesterday's shooting at a Panama City, FL school board meeting. Disturbing footage surfaced yesterday of the gunman opening fire on school board members, none of whom were killed.

  • bellagio robbery - Searches are up today for security footage posted by the Las Vegas PD of a suspect in the robbery of the Bellagio casino.

  • christmas island - There's increased interest this morning in Australia's Christmas Island, where dramatic video was captured of a refugee boat smashing into rocks during a storm, reportedly killing over 20 people.
